Still I Rise Kenya and Médecins Sans Frontières have entered into a collaboration that will allow both organisations to improve and expand their own services. The collaboration includes an exchange program, which will be fully activated during the month of November, 2021.
Adolescents from MSF’s Youth Friendly Center in Dandora, Nairobi, come from areas that Still I Rise has not yet reached. They will be able to participate in Still I Rise school’s educational activities, taking place every Saturday of the month: these include the canteen, sports and recreational activities. On the other hand, Still I Rise will refer their students to the free medical services offered in MSF clinics.
Still I Rise’s Child Protection Officer will be able to refer suspected or confirmed cases of sexual and gender-based violence among Still I Rise students to MSF Lavender House Sexual and Gender Based Violence recovery center or Dandora Youth Friendly Center. In these cases, the MSF clinics offer prompt intervention to the victims providing medical and psychosocial support including medicolegal documentation and expert witnessing at court.
In addition, Still I Rise will organize training seminars on educational matters to adolescents in MSF Dandora Youth Center, while in return MSF will guarantee training courses and seminars in first aid and sexual violence prevention. Definitely, the collaboration among these two organisations will improve the quality of their services to the community in Nairobi.
“I’m elated that we can make our partnership official”, says Nicolò Govoni, Executive Director of Still I Rise. “MSF is an organization I hold in the highest regard, and I am certain that our combined strength will generate a positive impact for many vulnerable Adolescents in Nairobi”.
