The conference was called in response to the NATO-Russia war in Ukraine, by participating organisations in the Universalist Humanist Forum Asia to take place in November this year.
Most presenters represent grass root social movements promoters of active nonviolence. Many of them well established Gandhian and Humanist organisations.
The Conference decided to give continuity to its activity, in the face of great uncertainty in the world with high probability of war extending to other areas increasing the risk of a worldwide conflict.
By becoming a permanent entity, the conference intends to assess and denounce conflict particularly within the Asian region, making every effort to help pre-empt conflicts.
